Scott Agnew caught up in "murder" joke outrage

Accoring to the News Of The World "FURY has erupted after a comic cracked a sick joke about murder victim Moira Jones — at a gig overlooking the Glasgow park where her body was found."

They continue "Audience members gasped in horror as stand-up Scott Agnew made the tasteless gag at a show in Shawlands."

"The 27-year-old pointed to a man in the crowd and blurted: “You look like the kind of guy who hangs around parks murdering women. The cops got the wrong guy for Moira — it was him.”

"Agnew then went on: “Six weeks ago I couldn’t have got away with that. Time’s obviously a good healer — well maybe not that good, she’s still dead.”

The NOTW states that "One stunned crowd member said: “You could have heard a pin drop — we were disgusted. It was sick, crass, and in very poor taste. The guy is an utter idiot. How he got off stage without being battered is a miracle.”

Agnew’s gaffe came as he compered the Ha Ha Raw Comedy  show at the Ivory Hotel last Sunday.

The building overlooks Queen’s Park, where 40-year-old Moira’s body was found on May 29. Slovakian Marek Harcar, 32, is awaiting trial for murder.

Last night Agnew blustered: “It was not intended to be offensive.”

But local Lib Dem councillor Paul Coleshill raged: “It’s despicable and not funny. He took bad taste to new depths.”

A Scottish Comedy insider who was at the packed out Ha Ha Raw Comedy gig, which takes place every Sunday evening at the Ivory Hotel said that this small outburst from Scott Agnew got by far the biggest laugh of the night from the audience, which is no mean feat considering award winning comedians like Des Clarke were on the bill preparing for their forthcoming Edinburgh Fringe shows.

Whilst the park was closed for a month during the murder enquiry, comedian and audience members would regularly take cups of tea or coffee out to police officers on duty.
