As seems always to be the case, top Scottish comedy
talent was last night ignored in favour of those plying their trade in
London Village.
Brighton based comedian Stephen Grant, who won Top Compere, stated
that he was shocked to have won since he didn't live in London.
Greg McHugh a comedian who has been showcasing his
wares in Scotland for almost seven years sadly lost out in the Best Newcomer
category.
In the Best Sketch or Variety Act category Greg lost
out again, this time alongside his Scottish comedy chums Susan Calman &
Wil Anderson whose critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe show Ugly Kid was
one of four shows nominated.
There was one Scottish winner on the night. The
Edinburgh Stand was voted the best comedy room in Scotland. At least no
London club could have won that one. Could they?
Across London at The Fringe Report Awards Glaswegian
comedian Janey Godley was awarded the Best Performer prize. more
